Town defender Tommy Smith has been named in the New Zealand squad for this summer’s Olympics. The Oly Whites, as the U23 side plus three overage players is known, play Belarus, Egypt and Brazil at London 2012.

Central defender Gareth McAuley looks set to be amongst those dropping out having returned to action after achilles surgery at Coventry on Saturday.

Striker Billy Clarke has emerged as a doubt ahead of Saturday's trip to Southampton. The Irish youngster felt sore after Wednesday's reserve game at Norwich and will be assessed later today prior to the squad departing for the south coast.

Boss Jim Magilton had special praise for central defenders Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor after the Blues defeated Coventry City 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena. The Town manager also felt his side should have been awarded a penalty in the first half when Alan Lee was felled in the box.

Town completed their first double of the season with a 2-1 victory at Coventry City. After a disappointing first half, Jon Macken put the Blues in front on the hour, then Alan Lee added his first goal in open play for two months before Michael Doyle pulled one back late on for the home side.
